Genes for Controlling Aging Identified

Fast-aging mice have been created at the University of Wisconsin by geriatrics-science researchers. Basically, what they did was just change two letters of the mouse DNA. This resulted in a modification of the energy producing factories of cells, the mitochondria. The gene, the researchers say functions as the quality control checker to assure that copies of the mitochondrial DNA do not result in mutations.

Thus, when the two letters were changed, the mitochondrial DNA accumulated mutations that resulted in faster aging of cells, or more specifically, the self-demise or suicide of cells. The researchers are careful to say that normal aging is not the result of faulty spell checking of DNA. They believe there is a set of genes that can actually prolong life by inhibiting mitochondrial mutations. If they can find it, it may result in new ways to prolong the lifespan of organisms.

The Wisonsin researchers are now trying to stop or reverse the rapid aging of the mice.

What Really Is The Best Thing For Aging Skin?

by Elizabeth Ruby

What really is the best thing for aging skin? That's a very good question to try to figure out. We all are aging. For some of us it seems like we are aging faster than others, but nevertheless we all age.
As we age and our bodies begin to change it is sometimes easy to overlook good skincare. We look in the mirror and see the wrinkles developing, but then we feel the aches and pains of our bodies, and we quickly forget about our wrinkles and focus on our pains.
But even as we age and our focus becomes more defined on other things besides our looks, we still want to look at the question "what really is the best thing for aging skin."
So let's look at it together and see what we find. Because what we put on oour skin is absorbed into our blood stream, we certainly don't want to put things on our skin that is bad for our health. As stated above our health tends to worsen as we age anyway, so why add more damaging substances to it.
So we need to stay away from skincare products with chemicals in them. Most chemicals are skin irritants or worse cause cancer. Also stay away from petroleum based products - mineral oil, liquid paraffin, paraffin wax - these will clog your pores.
Another thing to stay away from when we consider "what really is the best thing for aging skin" is fragrance. Most fragrance is made from chemicals and will irritate the skin, causing itching or red blotches. A few other dangerous substances in skincare are nitrosamines( such as DEA, MEA or TEA), dioxane, alcohols, (except for stearyl and cetearyl alcholos, which are waxes and perfectly fine for your skin), acrylamide, and triclosan.
Now we've looked at a few things we don't want in our skin care products, let's look at what we do want. We want pure natural products that come from nature. Ingredients like grapeseed oil, avocado oil, shea bitter, and vitamin E.
Other great ingredients include Cynergy TK, wakame, coenzyme Q10, active manuka honey, babassu, and jojoba oil. Many of these ingredients are antioxidants that work at ridding our skin of the free radicals, which cause our skin to break down. Many of them are great wrinkle and fine line removers, helping our aging skin to look younger.
These natural ingredients work with the moisturizers already in our body enhancing them to give our skin the radiant glow we had in our younger years. So when looking for the answer to "what really is the best thing for aging skin", look for natural ingredients that help heal the skin, not dangerous chemicals that will harm it.

How To Solve Aging Skin Problems

by Margaret Bell

Aging skin problems and how to deal with them is a struggle for most people. Skin wrinkles, baggy eyes and aging spots on the skin need answers. Read on to find out how to safely solve aging skin problems.
There are effective products out there for curing your aging skin problems, they are just slightly difficult to find. You won't find the ones of the quality that you need at your local department store's cosmetics counter, and you won't find them in your friendly neighbors little catalogue either.
What Causes Aging Skin Spots?
Many people are mainly focused on finding a product to aid them in removing aging spots on skin. These are caused by the skin producing an overabundance of melanin-the pigmented cells as a result of all of those years that your skin was left unprotected when being exposed to the UV radiation from the sun.
Aging Spots on Skin Problems Solved
This is one of the aging skin problems that can now easily be resolved through the use of a natural whitening cream. The use of the key ingredient Extrapone Nut grass naturally inhibits melanin development, and it is non-irritating and safe to use unlike many other whitening ingredients.
Look Younger Quickly
This product will actually reduce your aging spots on skin by a whopping 40%, and you'll never believe what else it will do for you. How would it make you feel if I told you that you could literally look years younger within just a few short weeks? You would probably be a little skeptical wouldn't you?
There is a relatively new line of products for aging skin problems that have quite literally taken the world of cosmetics by storm. Manufactured by a company in New Zealand that has for years been respected for their natural health supplements, this line of products will do things that you simply won't believe. (That is until you try them like I did.)
Skin Wrinkles Reduced
For starter their cream for aging spots on skin uses a natural blend of proteins that will cause your collagen and elastin production to simply go through the roof. Once the levels are back up to when you were younger you will see a drastic difference in the number of lines and wrinkles that you can see.
It will further take care of your aging skin problems by increasing the levels of hyaluronic acid in your skin. This is a accomplished by shutting down the enzyme that breaks the acid down. The rise in this acid will have such an impact on how young you look that you will simply find it hard to believe.
Powerful Skin Formula That Really Works
What formula for aging spots on skin would be complete without the most powerful antioxidant ever discovered? Their special mixtures of proteins and enzymes have created the first antioxidant that can destroy millions of free radicals through the use of a single antioxidant molecule.
In my research I found a company that had the innovation to develop a line of all natural products for aging skin problems. I am sure they are very proud of the work that they've done. I know I have been profoundly impressed by their dedication and genuine concern for their customers. They have finally created a line that actually deals with the causes of aging skin, and we will all soon look younger because of them. - Margaret Bell

Skin Care With Baking Soda May Replace Many Products On Your Shelves

by Gloria MacTaggart

Baking soda has been used for just about everything - it can put out fires, remove oil and grease from clothing, clean vegetables, polish your silverware, get rid of nasty smells, and settle your upset stomach. But did you know it is also an excellent natural skin care product? Find out how to use baking soda for a clean, clear complexion.
One of the best skin care combinations is baking soda and apple cider vinegar. The baking soda cleanses and exfoliates and the apple cider vinegar acts as a toner and astringent. Both are natural products, free of harsh and irritating chemicals, and both have antibacterial properties. Apple cider vinegar is also loaded with excellent skin care nutrients, whether you drink it as a tonic or use it directly on the skin.
Here are a few recipes to get you started:
* As a cleanser and exfoliant, mix a couple of teaspoons of baking soda with a few drops of cold water and massage lightly into the skin. To tone afterwards, mix apple cider vinegar half and half with water and apply with a cotton ball. Follow that with an application of coconut oil or vitamin E to soothe and soften. The baking soda really cleans the skin while removing excess oils and dead skin cells. The apple cider vinegar is nourishing and closes the pores, and the coconut oil or vitamin E softens and nourishes at the same time.
* If you have problems with acne, try a honey masque after cleansing and exfoliating with baking soda. Smooth the honey directly on the skin, leave on for about 10 minutes and rinse with warm water. Follow with apple cider vinegar to tone. In this case, you don't need the coconut oil or vitamin E as the honey has already done the job. Using this routine, you may be able to eliminate acne medication and special acne skin care products altogether.
* As an all-over body scrub, try sprinkling baking soda directly onto a washcloth and rubbing down. It exfoliates the skin while cleansing, and gives a soft, even texture. Use a paste of baking soda and water to smooth away especially rough areas - elbows or heels - before your shower.
Why do people use baking soda instead of the hundreds of skin care products available? Primarily because it's natural - no harsh and irritating chemicals. Baking soda does a better job than most of the chemical-laden products and doesn't damage the skin.
However, using natural cleansers and exfoliants is not enough to protect your skin from environmental chemicals and pollutants - for that you need a shielding lotion. A good shielding lotion bonds with the outer layer of the skin to form a new protective layer than locks in natural moisture and keeps out chemicals. If you follow your natural cleansing routine with an application of shielding lotion, your skin will stay clean, soft and supple even when exposed to pollutants.
Many people have sworn off the chemicals used in most skin care products and replaced their cleansers, masques, exfoliants and even anti-aging serums with baking soda, honey, apple cider vinegar and other natural skin care treatment products. As a result, they've improved their skin and their overall health. Give baking soda a try and you should see the difference almost immediately. But don't forget the shielding lotion to protect your skin from the chemicals you can't avoid.

The Lowdown on Wrinkles and Wrinkle Cream

by john

Anti-aging or wrinkle-reducing products can make your skin appear younger, but the best strategy is to exfoliate and protect in addition to these products. Exfoliating helps rejuvinate your skin by sloughing off the dead cells. Anti wrinkle creams are special creams, formulated to help reduce the appearance of aging. There are special creams for different problems and different stages of life. Anti aging wrinkle cream can be a tool, should you decide that more extreme measures, such as botox or surgery are out of the question. Finding the right creams for your can be difficult - there 's so many to choose from.
Aging well means accepting the fact that the wrinkles are with you forever, and getting on with your life. The best one can do is eat properly, walk a minimum of an hour a day, and think young. Age Reversal Technology works to diminish the appearance of forehead creases, droopy brows, crow's feet, furrows, laugh lines, feathered lips, and more. Reduces the appearance of acne scars, stretch marks, rosacea, and enlarged pores. Aging also brings with it reduced elastin production. As early as puberty our bodies stop producing elastin.
Skin-care companies have lined up an assortment of age-assaulting ingredients that can restore skin's youthful texture, reduce existing lines and even help prevent the onslaught of new ones. Likewise, dermatologists offer an array of in-office procedures that give even more dramatic results ? and often can be combined with one or two other treatments in a single appointment. Skin care and care for our health isn't something that we decide to take up when we have to. So we shouldn't be thinking about skin care for the first time when we have skin and eye wrinkles developing, we need to be thinking about skin care way earlier than that.

Antiaging Skin Care: What Will Tell My Children

by Ashley Canfield

Antiaging Skin Care is one of the most researched health care issues online. Yet, it's amazing that most people don't know that our skin is the largest organ in our body and needs to have the same special care we give all our other important organs. One of the most important things we can do for ourselves is to perform some simple skin care procedures every day.
We know that there are some people who just seem to have beautiful skin while others feel they need plastic surgery and other invasive procedures to provide them with what they hope will give them the natural look they want, but with modern beauty products that is not necessarily the case.
After much scientific research today's antiaging skin care products are able to do amazing things in helping keep our skin looking healthy. The first thing is becoming aware of the fact you need to start treating your skin right and finding skin products that are a perfect match to your skin type since everyone has their own unique PH skin balance. A little research on the internet or at your favorite department store cosmetic section will help you find the best products for you. If you want to research it in more depth, consult a qualified health care practitioner. Ask about the use of Aloe Vera Products. They do wonders.
Once you have found your perfect product you need a daily routine. The first step in any antiaging skin care routine is making sure your skin is clean. Years ago my Dermatologist told me to never use a wash cloth on my face but to gently massage my cleanser or mild soap into my skin in circular motions using my finger tips and then splashing warm water over my face to rinse off. Be sure to pat your skin with a soft towel to dry it.
The next step is to follow your products recommendations usually treating your skin with a skin toner followed by a moisturizing cream or lotion. It is also recommended that you use an exfoliant or natural peel once or twice a week to remove any dead skin cells. You must then remember to cleanse and use a toner on your skin or the exfoliant may not be completely removed.
Now that you've taken care of your outer skin it is important for you to realize using the right skin products is only part of the solution, the other part is having a healthy diet. Remember the old saying, "We are what we eat." It is a truism! It is through proper diet and nutrition, eating foods that are rich in vitamin A, C & F, that helps maintain that healthy look you are trying to achieve. Research the nutraceutical companies that provide natural products specifically formulated for anti-aging skin care. But, by all means, research these companies thoroughly.
Antiaging skin care is continuously growing as an important part of our life because, with all the advances in the areas of Bio-Technology and Nano-Technology, it's predicted that we could live to be 110 to 115 years old. As you can imagine, with all the wear-and-tear as a result of pollution like dust, bacteria, toxins, etc. - that's a lot of years of wear and tear on this important organ. Know this: The "wanting to look good" issue for any or all of us never changes, regardless of age.
